Classic Split Pea Soup

What you’ll need:

  • 6 cups broth or water

Optional Extras:

  • 2 cups diced veggies (carrots, zucchini, celery, etc)

Meat Variation:

  • 1 ham bone

  • 2 cups diced ham

Stovetop:

  1. Pour the package contents into a large pot with 6 cups broth or water.

  2. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce to a simmer. Cook for 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally. Soup is ready when lentils are tender and soup is thick. Add more broth or water if a thinner consistency is desired.

Meat Variation:

Add the ham bone at the beginning of cooking for deeper flavor. Stir in the diced ham during the last 15 minutes.

Instant Pot:

  1. Pour the package contents into the Instant Pot with 4 cups of broth or water.

  2. Secure the lid and set the valve to sealing. Cook on Manual (High Pressure) for 10 minutes. Allow pressure to release naturally (about 20 minutes). Add more broth or water if a thinner consistency is desired.

Meat Variation:

Add the ham bone at the beginning of cooking for deeper flavor. Stir in the diced ham during the last 15 minutes.

Slow Cooker

  1. Pour the package contents into the slow cooker with 4 cups of broth or water.

  2. Cover and cook on Low for 6-7 hours or High for 3-4 hours, until lentils are tender and soup is thick. Add more broth or water if a thinner consistency is desired.

Meat Variation:

Add the ham bone at the beginning of cooking for deeper flavor. Stir in the diced ham during the last hour to heat through.
